The flamenco singer Marina Heredia has published “My singing prayer” on all digital platforms”, the second single from their upcoming album “En Libertad. El camino de los gitanos” (In Freedom. The Path of the Gypsies). This new release comes in parallel to the international tour that the artist is currently developing and that has taken her to stages in Europe and America, consolidating her projection inside and outside of Spain.
After starting the year in the United States with “El Amor Brujo” —where He participated in the Philadelphia Orchestra season. at Marian Anderson Hall—and present their show “In Freedom” in cities like Madrid, Grenade, Valladolid and Malaga, Marina Heredia He now brings that same artistic universe to the recording field with a piece of an intimate and spiritual nature.
The project “En Libertad” was premiered by Heredia last September at the 1st Granada Flamenco Biennial. The rehearsals for that concert with the Granada City Orchestra also served as the recording ground for the symphonic portion of the album, which will be released shortly thereafter. The tour, bearing the same name, has two versions: one featuring the symphonic part (which comprises the first half of the show) and another featuring only the flamenco adaptations of all the songs.
A praise song as a new single
“Mi rezar cantando”, the second single from the album of the same name as the tour, is constructed as a flamenco praise in which the singing functions as a form of prayer and collective expression. In contrast to the bright and festive tone of "Juan el Egiptano", the first preview of the album, this new single delves into a more contemplative dimension, linked to the spirituality and oral tradition of the gypsy people, elements that permeate the entire project.
The release connects directly with the stage experience of the "En Libertad" tour, where this repertoire has already begun to take shape before the public. The show, conceived as a musical and narrative journey through the history of the Roma people, It also serves as a starting point for a recording project. that combines historical research and contemporary creation.
“In Freedom. The Path of the Gypsies” originated from an artistic residency the singer undertook in Germany and from collaborative work with José Quevedo “Bolita” and Joan Albert Amargós, who were responsible for the symphonic component premiered in 2023 with the Duisburg Philharmonic. Building upon this foundation, The project proposes a dialogue between symphonic and flamenco music, between memory and identity.
